Ground

Every piece is the same. The square it stands on decides how it moves.

  1. Each side starts with eight pieces on its back row, one of them marked. Ink moves first.
  2. On a + square a piece moves along its row or column. On a × square it moves diagonally.
  3. Pieces move any distance and cannot jump. The marked piece moves one square at a time.
  4. Landing on an enemy piece captures it.
  5. Win by capturing the enemy marked piece or by bringing your own to the far row.

Sixty moves without a capture is a draw. If you have no legal move, you lose.
